Legend has it that a long, long time ago, the ancestors of the Amis people arrived here on five canoes – the present-day Dongchang Village, Ji'an Township, Hualien County – and established the Lilou tribe, the only Amis tribe with a boat festival. In 1937, the Japanese renamed it "Zhōujīn" (舟津), meaning "canoes arriving at shore." In 1948, it was changed to Hualien, but the Amis people still habitually called it Lilou. We, who love the sea and boats, chose "Zhōujīn," meaning "canoes arriving at shore," as the name of our homestay – arriving at shore is for setting sail again. We welcome you to come ashore and rest.
