As a landmark building in the region, it is also one of the must-visit attractions for understanding Lishan. Construction began in 1959 by order of the late President Chiang Kai-shek and was completed in 1965. It was the earliest hotel built in the area and one of the main guesthouses where President Chiang resided and hosted foreign guests during his tours of Taiwan in the early years. Its antique appearance has become a landmark of the Central Cross-Island Highway.
