There was once a tributary stream on the Laonong River. Because hot water continuously emerged from the ground, villagers would bring their elders and children to bathe there, believing it had magical effects on the skin. The villagers called this place [Hot Water Stream]. About forty years ago, Mr. Chen Liang-jian, the current chairman of the resort, felt it was inconvenient to bathe at the hot spring source. He used double-layered insulated pipes to bring the hot spring water from its source about four kilometers away, over mountains and ridges, to the resort. Initially, only a few very simple bathrooms were built for villagers and hikers. Because the hot spring water is clear, colorless, and odorless, it can be used for bathing and drinking. It is a carbonated spring with a year-round temperature of about 48°C. After bathing, the skin feels smooth. Later, this stream was renamed [Bulao Stream]. In 1975, due to the increasing number of tourists who came by reputation, a few rooms were built with wooden planks to accommodate visitors, and it was named [Bulao Hot Spring Resort], becoming the first hot spring hotel in Kaohsiung City. After several renovations, it now presents itself with new equipment and decorations, warmly welcoming visitors.
