The inaugural project is located in Tainan, Taiwan's most storied city, and opened at the end of 2014, becoming the group's 12th hotel. The Place Tainan was designed by the Dutch architectural firm Mecanoo and collaborated with international teams such as the British lighting design consultancy dpa. With a focus on integrating old and new, the hotel extensively uses elements like window grilles, bricks, and wood, recreating Tainan's landscape and traditional imagery through modern, chic design. Situated in the prime East District of Tainan City and co-developed with T. S. Dream Mall, the hotel is a new landmark in Tainan. It features 223 guest rooms, dining options including the Italian restaurant "Guan Cui," "Twenty-One" bar, and "Hui Gan" coffee shop, as well as a light fitness room and laundry facilities. The Place Tainan focuses on showcasing local culture, hence it has a 120-ping exhibition space and established the "Gan Qing Shang Hao" design product store in a corner of the lobby. This store carefully selects masterpieces from local designers and artisans, promoting high-quality design works and craftsmanship, allowing culture to be conveyed and exchanged through profound design during travelers' stays.
