From early imported and second-hand goods to the current innovative business district, the Commissioned Merchant District has become one of Keelung's four major creative bases, continuing to write its own story. -Attraction Features- In the early days, due to external factors such as foreign trade restrictions and high tariffs, purchasing imported goods relied on sailors, overseas students, and US military personnel to bring goods into the country from the port. Commissioned merchants accepted consignments and commissions from buyers and sellers, including imported goods such as clothing, daily necessities, and chocolates, attracting people who chased trends to visit. During its prosperous period from the 1950s to the 1980s, it gathered more than 200 commissioned merchant shops. With the rise of the internet and the changing times, the commissioned merchant district gradually declined, only to gradually improve in recent years with the participation of local creative teams and young people returning to their hometowns. Today, the Commissioned Merchant District brings together Keelung's local snacks and specialty souvenirs, and regularly holds markets, walking tours, and other activities to continue passing down the story of the commissioned merchants.
