Hsinchu Chenghuang Temple not only has many delicious foods in front of the temple, but also many popular shops around. This #Guo Jia Yuan Zu Run Bing is said to have been sold since the Japanese era. This inconspicuous small shop has been passed down for 5 generations and is a century-old shop. It did not originally specialize in run bing, but sold other snacks. It was the third generation that began to specialize in run bing, hence the name of the shop. The wrapper of the freshly made run bing is very chewy, and the filling inside is also very generous. It includes crisp and sweet bean sprouts and chives, as well as the essential peanut powder, crispy egg, dried tofu, preserved radish, and a special ingredient different from other run bing shops – #pork floss. The pork floss keeps the run bing fresh and not greasy, yet you can still taste the aroma of pork floss different from the run bing itself. Because the run bing is plentiful, delicious, and cheap, it is a famous local specialty snack in Hsinchu and a food memory that has grown with the people of Hsinchu.
