A four-generation queue-worthy, budget-friendly delicacy. "Beimen Fried Cake" started during the Japanese colonial era, with the first generation owner, Mr. Weng, selling from a cart. Now, it's in its fourth generation. On weekends, there are often long queues. Located near Changhe Temple in Hsinchu City, it's about an 8-10 minute walk from Chenghuang Temple. Although the storefront looks unassuming, it holds many childhood taste memories for Hsinchu locals. Fried to order with generous ingredients! Each piece is plump and substantial at a bargain price, crispy on the outside while retaining the fresh sweetness of the ingredients. Although deep-fried, it's not greasy at all. Highly recommend the nostalgic glutinous rice cake, which has a texture similar to fried rice cakes, paired with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce. This traditional flavor, a memory for Hsinchu locals, is worth the wait no matter how long the queue.
