The orange-red walls inside blend the bar into a warm space, welcoming any soul in need of a drink at night. Before Casa Lounge Bar, Xiao Mao worked in car repair and sales, spending nearly 10 years traveling for work. Later, he realized that nothing was more important or precious than his family back home, so he decided to return to Chiayi. "This storefront was just about to close, so I thought I'd take it over and invest. Who knew I'd end up running it myself," Xiao Mao said with a laugh. In the first two years of opening, due to heavy pressure, he was forced to take only three days off. It wasn't until the third year that the business gradually stabilized, and Xiao Mao increased his days off to one day per month, traveling to bars in other cities to learn from their strengths. Xiao Mao feels that Casa is one of the few bars in Chiayi specializing in cocktails, and making the cocktails tell the story of Chiayi has become his mission. He uses tea leaves provided by his tea farmer friends to infuse his cocktails with the majestic flavor of Alishan; he selects local Chiayi pineapples to add sweetness and sourness to the cocktails.
