In 2001, Xu Dingye's father, Xu Junrong, resolutely ended his family's tea production and switched to growing coffee trees on Zhuowu Mountain, the most precipitous peak at the southern end of Alishan. Initially, he had only a superficial understanding of coffee beans, being a complete novice. After five years of arduous study and exploration, Xu Junrong personally oversaw every step, from farm management to bean harvesting and roasting. To ensure quality, he meticulously selected coffee beans one by one with his reading glasses, day and night. Finally, he succeeded in producing coffee beans that won the national first prize in the "Domestic Specialty Coffee Bean Evaluation," transforming strings of red jewels into the signature product of Zhuowu Mountain Farm. Recalling his father's hardships during those five years, Xu Dingye said, "At that time, we had accumulated nearly 700 kilograms of green beans from two years that couldn't be sold." In 2007, to help promote their own coffee beans, Xu Dingye opened a shop in the city of Chiayi, named "Zhuowu Coffee." In addition to selling coffee bean beverages from their own farm, the shop gradually expanded its offerings over time to include desserts, brunch, coffee brewing equipment, and coffee gift boxes. Despite the honor of having "National First Prize Coffee," Xu Dingye remains uncompromising about the quality of coffee served in his shop, continuing to learn and improve to strictly control the coffee quality within the store.
