Taiwanese Tile Houses. For nearly a century, wealthy merchants and magnates like the Wufeng Lin family and Wu Lan-chi, the prime minister of Taiwan's city construction, adorned their homes with precious decorative tiles to showcase their family's prosperity. Taiwan is thus filled with world-class, precious tile culture. However, due to urban renewal and soaring land prices, thousands of old houses with decorative tiles are being demolished one by one. We are a group of office workers who volunteer for tile preservation. For twenty years, we have used our time and savings to quietly preserve thousands of century-old decorative tiles in Taiwan and established a restoration center. Step by step, we are building a comprehensive database on this land, hoping to leave precious visual records for future generations. We not only preserve but also 'unconditionally' provide precious decorative tiles to continuously support the restoration of old houses in Taiwan. 1.
