Established in 1938, the earliest Mung Bean Ice (Mitsumame) was created by Mr. Chen Xi from Longjing District, who sold it from a pushcart near Taichung Railway Station. At that time, the Mung Bean Ice was inspired by the Japanese 'Shikoku Ice' and made with over ten kinds of toppings. Around 1943, it moved into the First Market, finally establishing a small stall named 'Xin Fa Ting'. During a fire, only the signboard and a small part of the shop were damaged, so after the fire, 'Xin Fa Ting' was renamed 'Xing Fa Ting' in hopes of turning hardship into good fortune. The Mung Bean Ice with its rich toppings is a nostalgic taste for many students, soldiers, and residents of Taichung. In recent years, new products such as Snow Ice, Handmade Tofu Pudding, and Silken Grass Jelly have been developed. With a philosophy of honest and dedicated management for decades, it is now operated by the third generation, continuing to pass down this wonderful, memorable flavor. Recommended Menu: Signature Mung Bean Ice, Red Bean Milk Ice, Mango Ice, various Snow Ice flavors.
