A-Shui Bo Buns are handmade, contain no preservatives, are completely made with old dough starter, and the bun skin and filling are made using traditional Tainan methods from 60 years ago. The meat is delivered fresh from the market daily for processing. The handmade pleating of the bun skin perfectly reflects the delicacy of handmade buns. The entire production process requires manual kneading, and the bun skin undergoes 10 hours of fermentation with old dough before being made. This process allows it to absorb stomach acid, thus protecting the stomach lining. A-Shui Bo Buns' philosophy is not only to operate with integrity locally but also to give back to the community. Master Li Hai-shui, born in 1940, used to live on Cigu Island and had to walk for over an hour barefoot to get to Kunshang's Longgang Elementary School. At that time, his home had no water or electricity, and if he returned home too late, he couldn't do his homework. He recalls those days as quite difficult. To encourage students to study hard, any student from public or private elementary or junior high schools in Taiwan who presents an original 100-point test paper from the academic year will receive a free fresh meat bun. He also hopes that students will cherish their time to study.
