Chetung Winery. Chetung Winery is located in Checheng Village, Shuili Township, Nantou County, and officially opened on April 20, 2003. The main members are farmers who primarily cultivate plums – the Fruit Production and Sales Class 3 of the Shuili Township Farmers' Association. Under the technical guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture, they have transformed from traditional agriculture to refined agriculture. When the winery's business unit was preparing to be established, the original factory at the old site was severely damaged by Typhoon Toraji at the end of July 2001. The original factory, equipment, and products were washed away by mudslides, leading to consideration of abandoning the winery project. Finally, with the assistance of the Shuili Township Farmers' Association, the scope of shareholding was expanded from the members of Fruit Production and Sales Class 3 of Shuili Township to plum farmers within the jurisdiction of Shuili Township. This allowed for the establishment of "Chetung Winery" in the Checheng community, known as the "Last Train Station" and "Secret Garden," and enabled the continuation of the delicious taste of the "hometown of plums." The winery is tranquil, beautiful, and safe, surrounded by mountains and forests, with the Shuili River flowing in front, lush green mountains and trees behind, the Mingtan Hydroelectric Power Plant (Asia's largest pumped-storage reservoir) to the left, and a panoramic view of the Checheng Railway Station, known as the "Last Train Station," and its beautiful railway scenery to the right. Additionally, the "beauty of Checheng," including the "old street, overhead cranes, log ponds, red-tiled houses, old buildings, old lumber mill factories, coal-fired train water towers, Checheng Elementary School..." can be fully appreciated from a high vantage point at the "Chetung Winery Homestay."
