Liao Township Chief Black Tea -- Rich and Fragrant | Yuchi Black Tea -- Yuchi Black Tea is located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, and its black tea industry began to develop during the Japanese colonial era. In 1925, the Japanese introduced the large-leaf "Assam Black Tea" tea tree seeds from India and began trial cultivation in the Yuchi Township area. Due to the sufficient day-night temperature difference in Yuchi Township, the frequent morning and evening fog, and the acidic brick red soil, all objective geographical conditions were very similar to the original planting areas of Assam Black Tea, resulting in considerable success. The Governor-General of Taiwan, which governed Taiwan at the time, therefore established the "Yuchi Black Tea Experiment Branch" in Yuchi in 1936 as a research center dedicated to introducing and promoting Assam black tea. The foundation for the development of Yuchi Township's black tea industry was thus laid. The "Liao Township Chief Black Tea Museum," which was newly completed in 2012, has an exterior full of European classical elegance and refinement. However, the interior of the building juxtaposes nostalgia and modernity, full of surprises everywhere.
