Liao Mayor Black Tea -- Mellow and Rich | Sun Moon Lake Black Tea -- Sun Moon Lake Black Tea is located in Yuchi Township, Nantou County, and its black tea industry began to develop during the Japanese colonial era. In 1925, the Japanese introduced the large-leaf "Assam Black Tea" tea tree seeds from India and began trial planting in the Yuchi Township area. Due to the significant day-night temperature difference in Yuchi Township, frequent morning and evening fog, and the acidic brick red soil, all objective geographical conditions were very similar to the original planting areas of Assam Black Tea, resulting in considerable success. The Governor-General of Taiwan, which governed Taiwan at the time, therefore established the "Yuchi Black Tea Research Branch" in Yuchi in 1936 as a research center dedicated to introducing and promoting Assam black tea. The foundation for the development of Yuchi Township's black tea industry was thus laid. The "Liao Village Chief Black Tea Museum," which was completed in 2012, has an exterior full of European classical elegance, yet the interior blends nostalgia with modernity, full of surprises at every turn.
