In addition to pastries, he was also skilled at making bread, cakes, Sachima, and rolled wafers. Shih Lin Pastry Shop was originally named Shih Lin Western-style Pastry and Bread Shop, founded in 1981. It was located in Keelung and later moved to Jinshan. The owner utilizes the abundant local taro and sweet potatoes produced in Jinshan to create "bite-sized" taro crisps and sweet potato crisps, which are small pastries that can be eaten in one bite, becoming a popular souvenir for tourists. Additionally, the owner combines improved maltose with small-sized Ma La (sesame snaps) to create "bite-sized" Ma La that is not sticky to the hands or mouth, and where sesame seeds don't fall all over the place when eaten in one bite. These have been very popular since their introduction. Shih Lin's pastries are made almost entirely by hand, resulting in a particularly good texture.
