Located by the roadside in front of the Dongshi Farmers' Association at the intersection of Provincial Highways 166 and 168, this area is bustling with people and full of energy. Several food stalls have recognized the business opportunities here and set up shop, with Lu Han-Xiong's (born 1958) pan-fried bun stall being one of them. To make a living, Lu Han-Xiong sets up his stall here every afternoon to sell pan-fried buns, making it a well-known snack stall in the Dongshi area. The dough for Dongshi pan-fried buns is made from all-purpose flour, and the filling consists of pork, cabbage, glass noodles, carrots, and chives. The preparation method is as follows: Pork is braised with soy sauce until cooked and set aside. Cabbage, carrots, and chives are chopped, and the braised pork and glass noodles are mixed together and set aside. Upon arriving at the stall, flour and water are kneaded into strips, small pieces are pinched off, flattened, and filled to form the buns. A small amount of oil is added to a flat-bottomed pan, the buns are placed in it, a mixture of flour and water is poured over them, and they are pan-fried until golden brown. Then, they are flipped and fried again until golden brown on the other side, taking about 10 minutes in total. They are then removed from the pan and ready to be served. When customers purchase them, they are packed in bags for takeout. Except for the filling, which must be stir-fried at home beforehand, everything else is made, pan-fried, and sold fresh at the stall. They are made and sold on the same day, until sold out, ensuring freshness that can be seen and tasted, which has earned Dongshi pan-fried buns high praise.
